Whether investing or building a start-up, you need to catch a wave of change. Oddly enough these things are usually in plain site. The key is timing it exactly right (which involves a good deal of luck) and attacking it with a high degree of skill. Given this and the fact that I enjoy watching these things I’ve got this list of trends I think are surfable and I like keeping tabs on. They are in no particular order of importance. They do however fall into one or more of four species-level trends that I think are inevitable:
- humanity wants efficient energy sources,
- people across the globe want to connect with each other,
- computing is permeating everything, and
- global industries with ridiculous inefficiencies need to be “ruined” by the invisible hand of innovation.
The really interesting thing is that a number of these trends are connected.
